An ancient burial ground in Karakalpakstan, western Uzbekistan, spread over a hill beside the ruined Gyaur-Kala fortress near Khojeyli. In use for well over a thousand years, it holds mausolea, crumbling tombs and the pilgrimage shrine of Mazlumkhan-Sulu, and remains one of the region's most visited sacred sites.
